Living a Christian lifestyle is not an easy commission and a supportive community is very important to have. As Christians, we are not called to live alone but in community with one another. We are called to enter into relationships with others and with Christ along our spiritual journey. It is through our fellow Christians that our faith and knowledge of Christ is able to grow. During community liturgy, our school is united in faith as we pray for personal needs and for the needs of the community, strengthening each other along our journey. In the spirit of faith formation and in the tradition of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate, St. Anthony Catholic High School will hold a community liturgy once a month throughout the academic year for two different grade levels each month.
Each student must sign in upon arrival to verify their attendance. Students will receive one community service hour for each mandatory liturgy attended. Please see Service Hours section for more information. Students are required to wear their full dress uniform at each community liturgy. If a student is unable to attend the mandatory liturgy, they should submit a letter to the Director of Campus Ministry BEFORE the assigned date and commit to a liturgy when the absence can be made up. A letter from a parent is necessary for the absence to be excused.
Friday Liturgy: Every Friday the student body will attend weekly liturgy unless changed by the administration. On every First Friday Liturgy, students will be required to wear their full dress uniform unless the administration states otherwise.
All liturgies are planned and coordinated by Campus Ministry.
Fellowship After Liturgy
After each community liturgy, it is the goal of St. Anthony Catholic High School to provide opportunity for fellowship among its community members. The grade level sponsors will coordinate efforts to provide an activity for the students after each liturgy and SACHS requests that the parents of the students organize a social to take place in conjunction with the student activity. Possible student activities include but are not limited to: sports tournaments (i.e. softball, basketball, soccer, etc.) and field day events (i.e. tug-of-war, relay races, obstacle courses, etc.), or fine arts activities such as a theatre production.
In an effort to keep the focus of Community Liturgy on Christ and on building fellowship, there will be no fundraiser's held on any Community Liturgy Sunday. Fundraiser's can still be held the Saturday prior or any day throughout the week with prior approval from the SACHS administration.
* Please note that under special circumstances the administration reserves the right to amend this policy.
