Campus Ministry Class Prayer Service

Now that the holidays have come to an end and all the presents and Christmas parties are over, all we are left with is a new year. This can be a time where we make new friends or start new things but this can also be a time to focus on ourselves. We should start the New Year refreshed and ready to continue. No matter what has happened, this is a new beginning and with God’s help we can learn to continue without the stress of past experiences. As Philippians 3:13 says- “forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead.” Take this verse and make it personal to you as we continue on this new journey in this gift of a new year.

We are offering something for all of you to do at your own discretion. If you remember, during thanksgiving we gave you the chance to write what you are thankful for. This time we are giving you the chance to either write your own New Year’s resolution or write something that you want to give up to God and/or forgive from last year. You will write them on the inside of a small piece of paper and we will fold them up into origami stars. We will be filling a large glass jar full of colorful stars. Once complete we will keep them in chapel so that each morning you can pray for the strength to keep your resolution or offer God the struggles from last year that you are trying to let go of and send the stars up to our Lord.

During Catholic Schools Week (lunch) we will have a table set up for you to write down your resolution or forgiveness and then we will turn your paper into a star. Please join us for this freeing and meaningful opportunity.

make your own star this week

A Prayer for you (from the St. Anthony Campus Ministry class):

Dear Lord, please give the St. Anthony community strength and courage to overcome the challenges and struggles that we, as a community, may encounter in our daily lives. Help us to stay true to ourselves and our resolutions for this New Year. We ask this in your name, Lord. Amen.
