Scholarships and Tuition Assistance

SCHOLARSHIPS

Brainpower Scholarship

Student's of St. Anthony Catholic School and St. Peter, Prince of the Apostles School will be offered annual scholarships of $1,500 and students of Buckner Fanning will be offered annual scholarships of $2,500 up to four years to attend St. Anthony Catholic High School. Recipients must meet and satisfy all admissions requirements. Student must immediately enroll in the Brainpower high school for the scholarship to be activated (students will be ineligible for the scholarship if they enroll at a non-Brainpower high school after graduating from St. Anthony, St. Peter or Buckner Fanning). Once enrolled, the recipient must remain in good academic standing to retain eligibility.

High School Placement Test (HSPT)

The HSPT scholarships are based on the scores received on the High School Placement Test, the Admission Committee awards five (5) academic scholarships each year. Every student who takes the HSPT on the assigned day at St. Anthony is eligible for a High School Placement Test Scholarship. These are non-renewable scholarships.

The St. Anthony Alumni Association Scholarship
 

This scholarship is provided by the St. Anthony Alumni Association.  Scholarships are distributed among freshman, sophomores, juniors, and seniors and are renewable yearly. Award amounts vary depending on the year's fund raising efforts. Therefore, this scholarship is not guaranteed. Only the sons, daughters, brothers and sisters of St. Anthony Alumni are eligible for this scholarship, unless otherwise designated by the Alumni Association.  

The award is given out twice a year in in the months of December and April to those families who meet the qualifications. The alum whose family member will be receiving the award must be an active participant of St. Anthony Alumni Association events. This scholarship relies completely on the funds raised through the various Alumni Association events throughout the year and as such requires active involvement from families in the form of donations, assistance in obtaining sponsorships and attendance.

Those who wish to apply for the scholarship will need to send an email detailing information about the family and the involvement that the family has had in the Alumni Association events to the Director of Alumni Relations by December 1st for fall distribution and March 30th  for spring distribution. Once applications are received, the Alumni Association board will review applications and determine eligibility and award amount. New alumni families are not eligible for the fall distribution unless they have participated and assisted in the summer events.

Valedictorian / Salutatorian Scholarships

A scholarship in the amount of $500.00 for valedictorian and $250.00 for salutatorian will be awarded to any student, accepted for admission to St. Anthony who graduates as the valedictorian or salutatorian from their middle school class. These students then become eligible for $500.00 and $250.00 scholarships each year thereafter if they remain in the top 10% of their class. In order to receive this scholarship parents must provide verification of class standing in writing from the students™s respective middle school by no later than the first day of school.

Altar Server Scholarship

At St. Anthony Catholic High School, we believe Altar Servers, who are committed to spreading the word of God at an early age, and who can encourage becoming men and women of faith should be recognized and encouraged.  We want to do our part to help students who are dedicated to their communities become further engaged in the teachings of the Church by further encouraging their religious formation through a Catholic education.  The Altar server Scholarship is renewable each year the student is a member of St. Anthony,  is in good academic standing and continues serving at St. Anthony throughout his or her high school career.

 

PTC Scholarships - Academic Achievement & Community Involvement

The PTC Scholarships were established to assist up to eight (8) students per scholarship that are in need with the high school tuition expenses of St. Anthony Catholic High School. These scholarships will recognize sophomores, juniors and seniors each year that meet the criteria for academic achievement or community involvement. Each one-time scholarship will be in the amount of $1,000 and will apply to their school tuition for the current school year.

Hope for the Future

St. Anthony encourages parents to apply for the Hope for the Future tuition assistance program. Hope for the Future provides need-based tuition assistance for Catholic and non-Catholic students who meet eligibility requirements and enroll in one of the Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of San Antonio. Incoming freshmen may want to inquire at their  parish or organizations such as The Knights of Columbus, Altar Society, Men's™s Club, etc. for assistance with tuition expenses. In the past, incoming freshmen have brought scholarships with them from their middle schools. Check with the main office of your current school to see if they offer tuition assistance. 

You may also check with the Human Resources Office at the parents place of employment to see if tuition reimbursement or scholarships for high school are offered. Also, inquire with parents professional organizations or unions for scholarship or financial aid opportunities.

St. Joseph Scholarship for Foster Children 

One $2500 scholarship for elementary/middle school student and one $5000 scholarship for one high school student.

One $1000 scholarship for high school incoming senior.

St. Joseph Society will also offer several $1000 scholarships to incoming 9th graders.  Parents can call (210)224-8279 for an application.
 

Tuition Assistance

In order to be considered for tuition assistance (financial aid), parents must complete the attached applications. A copy of your 2013 Federal Income Tax Return(s), and/or documentation of non-taxable income must be included. Return the application form along with the required filing fee of $15.00 to:

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

1. How are tuition assistance/financial aid determined?

     Income/ Number of Household Ratio
     Number of students in private schools (includes University/College)

2. What is the maximum amount awarded?

While there is no maximum amount awarded, because of the limited amount of funding and the large number of applicants, we must limit the award; generally the amount of assistance does not exceed 50% of the total tuition cost for the year.

3. Who can apply?

All students who have completed the registration process are eligible to apply.

4. How is the scholarship calculated into our tuition payment?

Tuition assistance is calculated according to which payment plan you select.
Example: Plan A Tuition assistance is subtracted from payment made July 5th.
Plan B“ Tuition assistance is divided into your monthly payments.

5. If I get awarded, do I have any service hour requirements? 

Parent volunteering is not mandatory, but strongly encouraged.
