One-to-One Learning Reaches High-Tech Heights at
St. Anthony Catholic High School
SACHS Set to Deliver Laptop Computers to Every Student
San Antonio – It’s been a mission two years in the making, now St. Anthony Catholic High School (SACHS) is set to take the latest step in its high-tech journey by issuing laptop computers to every student. It is an effort that will make SACHS a unique high school in the San Antonio Archdiocese to take on such a project. The school is holding a celebration to kick off the initiative on Thursday, September 5 at 8:30 a.m. at the school library. Students, parents, faculty and staff will gather along with community leaders and others who helped to make this major investment in the future of SACHS students.
“This is the next phase in our effort to enhance the one-to-one experience of learning we always strive for at St. Anthony Catholic High School,” says Principal, Dr. Kristina Vidaurri. “The laptops are a creative way to expand the time and place of individual learning and better prepare our students for college and a world that continues to be changed by technology. It also gives our teachers the opportunity to provide timely feedback to our students to open those lines of communication and allow our students to go from great to exemplary.”
Working in partnership with the University of the Incarnate Word (UIW), SACHS has spent the last two years upgrading its technology infrastructure and preparing facilities to make the transition to the new system. The laptops will be delivered to students fully loaded with software from UIW that is needed to allow for better and more efficient communication between teachers and students. Microsoft will be on hand for day one of the project and the school also plans to hold ongoing Tech Camps for students and parents.
This project is the latest advancement of the educational experience at St. Anthony Catholic High School. SACHS is also implementing a streamlined approach to the use of textbooks on campus that will allow students to always have the most up-to-date information and knowledge for their classes while also relieving parents of the financial burden of having to purchase new textbooks every year.
The SACHS laptop initiative was made possible solely by the generous contributions of parents, alumni and community leaders as well as funds raised during the annual Garnet and Gray Gala.
