June is Men's Mental Health Awareness Month

According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), men are nearly four times more likely to die by suicide than women. We can make a difference to our men of The Hive by helping them feel safe and advocating for their well being.

Mental health conditions can begin to develop in young children and adolescents. Because they’re still learning how to identify and talk about thoughts and emotions, their most obvious symptoms are behavioral. Symptoms in children and teens may include the following:

  • Changes in school performance
  • Excessive worry or anxiety, for instance fighting to avoid bed or school
  • Hyperactive behavior
  • Frequent nightmares
  • Frequent disobedience or aggression
  • Frequent temper tantrums

The NAMI Teen and Young Adult Helpline can be contacted by texting "Friend" to 62640, or you can call at 1-800-950-NAMI (6264).  In case of an emergency, call 911 or the Suicide Lifeline at 988
